Biography

Nathan Mizell (he/him) is a recent Legal Studies graduate from the University of California, Berkeley. He is originally from Vista, California, a city within the greater San Diego Area. 

Nathan currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Berkeley Police Accountability Board, the successor to the Berkeley Police Review Commission (PRC). Nathan formerly served as a Commissioner on the PRC, the Nation’s oldest civilian police oversight agency with investigatory powers. Nathan was one of the original proponents of BerkDOT, a first-in-the-nation proposal to create a Department of Transportation to manage traffic enforcement and transportation policy. Nathan is also the former Chair of the City of Berkeley’s Reimagining Public Safety Task Force.

At UC Berkeley, Nathan served in a variety of student leadership positions, including Executive Vice President of the Associated Students of California (ASUC), and most recently as Director of Policy to the ASUC President.
